Community Council Elections 2026
The next Black Mount Community Council election will take place on Thursday 22 October 2026. As part of the election process, all current Community Councillors will stand down on 21 October 2026. Existing members who wish to continue must therefore stand for election again – there is no automatic reappointment.

The election is also a great opportunity for new people to become involved in Black Mount Community Council. You do not need any previous Community Council experience. To stand, you must be aged 16 or over, have your principal residence within the Black Mount Community Council area and be registered to vote in the area. Candidates must complete a nomination form and have their nomination supported by a proposer and seconder who are also registered electors within the Community Council area.
Nominations close at 4pm on Thursday 10 September 2026. If the number of valid nominations does not exceed the number of available places, the candidates will be elected without the need for a public ballot. If there are more candidates than available places, a contested election will take place on 22 October.
What happens after the election?
The newly elected Community Council will hold its Inaugural Meeting following the election. Our planned meeting on Monday 2 November 2026 falls within this period. At the inaugural meeting, the new Community Council will be formally established and its office bearers appointed, including the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
